On the 20th June, which I prefer to call Day Zero, we finally arrived in Clisson, France to get a huge dose of metal of three whole days. Our ‘to do list’ for that day was the following: get some beer, get the tickets and get some more beer. It was already completed by 2 pm. That day the good mood was brought to us mainly by the beer section of the nearest supermarket. It was our first time to attend Hellfest so we didn’t really know what to expect apart from the tons of very good bands with promising shows. The 159 bands in the line-up were spread across six stages. The two mainstages, named simply Mainstage 1 and 2, gave place to the main hadliners and basically to the mainstream rock bands. The Altar and the Temple were the stages for mostly black, death, grind and thrash metal bands. The stage called the Valley was the home of stoner, doom, sludge and rock ‘n roll bands.
